My Core Values as The Bohemian Therapist

Hello and welcome! As The Bohemian Therapist, and I provide LGBTQ-friendly, neurodivergent-affirming therapy that honors your whole self. My work is rooted in authenticity, radical compassion, and holistic mental wellness, and it’s guided by my ethical obligations as a social worker and citizen of the world. Basically, I’m here to hold space for you, support your growth, and advocate for justice in the world we live in. Here’s how that translates to the therapy I provide.

Guiding Principles in My Practice

As a licensed social worker, I follow the NASW Code of Ethics, which says social workers must “challenge social injustice” and promote social justice and human rights (NASW, 2021). These ethics are the backbone of my work. Here’s what they mean to me.

  • Anti-Pathologizing: I resist reducing you to a diagnosis. Therapy here is about your strengths, resilience, and identity, not a label.

  • Anti-Capitalist: People over profit. I design my services to center human dignity and equity, not a bottom line.

  • Anti-Carceral / Abolitionist: I actively challenge systems of oppression, policing, and incarceration, supporting frameworks for transformative justice.

  • Decolonial / Land Back: I acknowledge and work against colonial systems, uplifting Indigenous sovereignty and practices.

  • Pro-Palestine: I stand in solidarity with Palestinian liberation, because social justice is inseparable from mental wellness.

Gender and Sexuality-Affirming Therapy

This is a space where LGBTQIA+ folks are seen, celebrated, and fully supported. I provide therapy that’s affirming, inclusive, and free from judgment, so you can feel safe bringing your whole self to our work together.
