FAQ
Hello and welcome!
If you're considering therapy with me, you likely have some questions. Here, you'll find answers to the most common inquiries. If you don't see your question here, feel free to reach out directly.
-
While I don't conduct full diagnostic assessments, we can explore your symptoms and experiences in session and via self-report surveys. These tools can provide clarity and help guide our work together. If a formal assessment is needed, I can assist in connecting you with appropriate resources.
-
Absolutely! Whether you have a formal diagnosis or are exploring the possibility of being neurodivergent, I'm here to support you. We can discuss your experiences, explore potential traits, and determine the best path forward together.
-
“Neurodivergent” refers to individuals whose neurological development and functioning are atypical. This includes, but is not limited to, conditions such as ADHD, OCD, autism, dyslexia, and dyspraxia. It’s a big umbrella. If you identify with any of these or suspect you might, you're in the right place.
-
If you're feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or seeking personal growth, therapy can be a valuable investment. Together, we'll assess your goals and determine the best path forward, ensuring that therapy aligns with your aspirations.
-
Our sessions will be collaborative and client-centered, tailored to your pace and needs. We might:
Talk through daily life, challenges, and personal growth goals.
Use Geek Therapy techniques, like exploring themes in your favorite shows, games, or fandoms to gain insight into your values, strengths, and coping strategies.
Integrate holistic tools such as mindfulness, somatic awareness, and reflective practices to support mind, body, and spirit wellbeing.
Think of it as therapy that meets you where you are, blending the things you love with strategies that help you thrive in real life.

Geek Therapy is an affinity-based model of therapeutic intervention and communication, founded by Josué Cardona in 2011. The theory centers on three key components:
Affinity: The client's genuine attraction to a particular interest or hobby.
Resonance: The personal connection or emotional response the client has to that affinity.
Understanding: The insights gained from exploring the affinity and its resonance, leading to greater self-awareness.
This approach utilizes clients' interests, such as video games, comics, or anime as tools to facilitate meaningful conversations and therapeutic progress. You can learn more about Geek Therapy here:

Holistic therapy treats you as a whole person, not just a set of symptoms. We consider emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing, and I weave in practices like mindfulness, breathwork, body awareness, and reflection. It’s all about helping you feel centered, empowered, and aligned with your authentic self.
-
LGBTQ+ friendly therapy is an approach where your LGBTQIA+ identity is celebrated and affirmed. In our sessions, you'll find a space free from judgment, where your experiences are validated, and your identity is honored.

The frequency of sessions is flexible. While many clients find weekly sessions beneficial, we can adjust based on your preferences and needs. Some clients opt for bi-weekly or monthly sessions as they progress. I do recommend 4 weekly sessions to start so we can establish a solid foundation for our therapeutic relationship.

My practice is rooted in anti-capitalist, abolitionist, and decolonial values. I strive to create a space that challenges systemic oppression and promotes healing through a holistic, inclusive approach. Therapy with me is about empowerment, authenticity, and social justice.
